WOW Follow Up

Internetz,
I just wanted to write about my impression of WOW so far.  I played a few more hours last night and I was able to level up to level 5.  All I can say is that it has yet to capture me the way other RPG game did such as; Fallout 3, Oblivion, Shadow of the Colossus, Iku, Final Fantasy 7 through 12, all of the Zelda series, Xenogears, and Kingdom Hearts.  WOW is fun to play, but without the real promise of an end-game and with little story to guide you along it simply feels like a RPG with missions that are in no way related to each other in a sense of a story and whose story line itself is pretty unimpressive.  I guess I just realized I'm more of a fan of the story being told than the game being played.

Internetz,
For a while now, the hubby has been busy playing World of Warcraft.  I had always stayed away from MMORPGs simply because I never really got that level of gaming yet; I was content playing stand-alone, sandbox style games, RPGs, first person shooters and especially fighting games.  But as all things progress forward, so did my interest in other gaming genres.  Erik was not my only influence in getting me to join the MMORPG scene, my neighbor and buddy, Ethan, is constantly playing MMORPGs such as Fallen Earth, Age of Conan and Everquest.  I often spend time over at his place watching him play.  Some of the worlds, especially in Age of Conan, are enormous in their size, rendered beatifully, and are well populated with NPCs and Online players alike.  It was enough that about two days ago, I hunkered down on my couch, popped in my DVD of The Big Band Theory Season 1, installed World of Warcraft and got my MMORPG on.  Truthfully, I've been preoccupied with my web page as of recently and thus have only put in an hour of gameplay.  I will most likely put in more hours during the weekend.  I don't intend to become addicted to the game, and I'm hoping to get my fill of the game within my 10 day trial period; I have other interests and other game titles to check out. Bye, Internetz. Oh and BTW, I chose Horde, Tauren race, shaman class. Grrrr.

Busy Saturday

Dear Internetz,
Today was a busy day.  We started out the day by going out for breakfast over at Maudie's on North Lamar.  Afterwards, we headed over to Fry's where I was able to purchase Mirror's Edge for the PS3 for the bargain bin score of 10 dollars.  Also, I purchased The Big Bang Theory Season 1 DVD.  I came back home and started to fix up the blog, when for no good reason I decided to head back to Fry's to purchase a 1GB DIMM for my netbook, but not before researching my netbook's specs online which resulted in me visiting a site that did a drive by install of some maleware.  So after spending 30 minutes upgrading the memory, I had to spend another hour removing the malware and running antivirus and antimalware programs just to make sure everything was removed.  Anyways, I'm ending the night watching BBT season 1 episodes. L8r, internetz.

It's been a lazy Sunday, dear Internetz.  While the hubby is at work I've stuck to switching from playing Read Dead Redemption on my PS3 to watching Big Bang Theory reruns on DVD.  I'm currently hunting down an N64 emulator for my net-book, curious to see if it will work and how it will look.

Hi Internetz,
I've been really busy with work; going great. Treated the doggie to a groom and bath over @ Petsmart, he's got his cute butt trimmed. Finally got myself a copy of Bioshock for the PS3, greatest hits, 20 bucks as well as Super Street Fighter IV for the PS3. Hit up Maudie's for some breakfast. Got my oil changed, washed my car but got dirty the next day when it rained. Did some BBQ'ing on Sunday and turned in early (I'm getting old.)... Regrets this weekend? Not being able to attend my local comic shop, Dragon's Liar, for Free Comic Book Day. Also, not committing to buying a treadmill.

Just got back from Fry's where I scored Saints Row 2 for 20 bucks. Good sand-box game - a poor man's GTA IV.
